[лат. cultus — возделывание, обрабатывание; франц. isolation — отделение, разобщение; греч. protos — первый и plastos — вылепленный, образованный]культура растительных клеток, лишенных стенок (см. изолированный протопласт), выращенная в жидкой или на агаризованной среде, содержащей в качестве дополнительного компонента осмотически активное вещество (стабилизатор) в оптимальной для данного вида концентрации. При регенерации стенок изолированные протопласты превращаются в культуру клеток (см. клеточная культура).
